Skye
decided she had to make her father proud of her. He was always complaining because Hunter chased her and
endangered their world. Maybe if Skye
could get rid of Hunter her father would accept and love her.
Skye
had a plan. She left the safety of her
world and headed out toward the deepest part of the ocean.
"Come
on Marshmallow. We have a long way to
go."
Marshmallow
followed her mistress faithfully.
Farther and farther they went.
Skye felt the shark before she saw him. There he was, Hunter was
stalking her.
"Just
a little farther." Thought Skye.
She did not want Hunter to realize she knew he was following her.
"Slowly,
Marshmallow. Not too fast, we are not
close enough."
Skye
and Marshmallow continued to swim deeper and deeper until they came to a cave.
"This
is it Marshmallow. Stay back."
Skye instructed her pet.
Skye
swam in front of the opening to the cave and waited. Hunter swam closer
circling around Skye. Skye continued to
stay where she was, the timing had to be perfect. Hunter made his final approach swimming right toward Skye, teeth
barred ready to attack. At the last
minute Skye swam upward and Big Black, a giant octopus, emerged from the cave
wrapping his tentacles around Hunter and dragging the shark into the cave never
to be seen again.
Skye
was so proud of herself, "Wait until my father finds out." She thought happily.
King
Aegean was waiting at the portal for her when she reentered their world.
"
I told you not go to out!" King
Aegean screamed at his daughter.
"But
father…" stammered a shocked Skye.
"All
you do is cause trouble. Can we expect
Hunter to show up now ramming into the barrier?"
"Father,
Hunter will not be back. I took care of
him." Skye said gleefully.
"What
do you mean you took care of him?"
A surprised look crossing King Aegean's face.
"I
led him out to the lair of Big Black.
Hunter will not be coming back."
Skye said proudly.
"You
went into deep water?" King Aegean scowled.
"Yes." Skye replied hesitantly.
King
Aegean slapped his daughter.
"Don't you know better?
Constantly you misbehave. I will
not stand for this anymore. You will
not leave this kingdom again. If you go
out again you will not be allowed back in.
Do you understand?" King
Aegean was so angry his face had turned bright red.
Skye
stared at her father in disbelief. She
had expected him to be proud of her for taking care of Hunter but instead he
was furious with her. She would not let
him see her cry. Skye turned and, as
gracefully as she could, she headed for her grandmother's home. She did not want anyone to see how hurt she
was.
Skye
entered her grandmother's house quietly so no one would know she was
there. She made her way to the throne
room where she sat down and allowed the tears to flow.
